Our Unwritten Seoul Episode 2 Recap

Mi-rae and Mi-ji switch places, and before handing her phone to her sister, Mi-rae secretly blocks Ho-su’s number. She makes Mi-ji promise not to fix her problems for her.

Mi-ji’s day doesn’t go as smoothly as she’d hoped, despite her best efforts. In the meeting, she’s unexpectedly given coffee—something they never usually bring her—and is asked for her opinion when they normally ignore her. Luckily, she manages to escape scrutiny when her boss lets it slide, assuming Mi-ji (pretending to be Mi-rae) was short on time and didn’t know much due to her recent leave.

Meanwhile, Mi-rae has an easier time. Her mother doesn’t realize they’ve switched—she just thinks Mi-rae dyed her hair. However, Mi-rae can’t ride a bicycle and fails to recognize someone Mi-ji knows. At work, Han Se-jin introduces her to the job and tells her to set her own hours. Since actual work won’t begin for another month, she’s free to do whatever she deems necessary—though that’s easier said than done, given she knows nothing about farming.

Ho-su is handling an abuse-of-power case when the client mockingly accuses his boss, Chung-gu, of favoring the assault victim—implying bias due to Chung-gu’s disability. Enraged, Ho-su shuts him down by saying that the driver working for him had a suspended license when he was hired. That alone ends this case. Cleanly.

Mi-rae considers quitting until Mi-ji says the job is "easy." This makes Mi-rae hesitate and keep pretending, now wondering if her old work isn't as hard as she thought.

Mi Ji, bored from doing nothing, accepts her boss's offer and visits a feisty grandma running a restaurant with odd rules. But once Mi Ji eats the soup, she's thoroughly impressed. She asks if the owner is interested in selling, and the owner throws salt on her face instead. Mi Ji tries again, and the result is the same, but she doesn't give up, and days pass. Mi Rae's days pass just the same, with nothing to do in the off-season.

Mi Rae decides, two weeks later, to clear up the mess on the farm. When she throws Se Jin's chair, he calls her insincere, but she calls him out on his bullshit strategy, saying that assigning no work is cruel and wrong. As she angrily leaves, she crashes, and Se Jin comes to help her.

Mi Ji agrees to meet Ho Su, but Mi Rae warns her that he can tell them apart—just like he did in high school when they both had towels over their heads. Mi Ji, against Mi Rae's judgment, decides to meet him anyway.

She takes him to the spot she’s always wanted to go. Ho Su comments on her overexcitement, saying that since she's from Seoul, she would’ve already seen it. He asks if she dropped the case because of him, and Mi Ji tells him, “Don’t be self-centered. Not everything is about you.”

Gyeong Gu asks Mi Rae why someone as abnormally cheerful as her is suddenly unhappy and driving like she’s drunk. Mi Rae calls Mi Ji, and Mi Ji asks if she wanted to see the Rainbow Fountain. Mi Rae says it's because Mi Ji used to talk about it all the time. Mi Rae asks if she’s having a hard time, to which Mi Ji replies, “I’m Yu Candy, so worry about yourself.”

Mi Rae visits the hospital, and her grandma calls her "Mi Ji," but there's suspicion in her eyes. Ho Su learns from his boss that he was intentionally sent so Mi Rae would drop the case. His boss asks him to meet the abusive Chairman Choi, but Ho Su refuses.

Grandma finds out it's not Mi Ji but Mi Rae, and she consoles her, telling her she did well—even though Mi Rae says she ran away.

Mi Ji rants to the chef grandma about how she was just doing her job and that the owner shouldn't be throwing salt. After she finishes, the chef says, “Are you done?”—and then throws salt at her again.

Ho Su tells Mi Ji that he's going to do what he wants because he's starting to forget who he is as a person. Mi Rae returns the broken chair, and Mi Ji receives a call from the chef grandma, who says, “If you wish to be treated like a human, come back by 10.”

She cheers up, and the episode ends with Ho Su realizing that she’s not Mi Rae, but Mi Ji.
