Good Boy Episode 1 Recap

The Insung police are in an abysmal state, rife with incompetence. Commissioner Jo Pan-Yeol is under fire for his poor leadership and focus on self-preservation. Ko Man-Sik is late on the day his suspension is lifted and faces criticism. He was suspended for accepting a lawyer referral fee—seriously. Later, he is assigned to the RIU by Hwang Kyung-Chul to help Dae-Yong catch the "Golden Bunny." He's also made responsible for Yoon Dong-Joo, who was demoted for beating up his colleagues who were taking bribes. Dong-Joo is in such a dire situation that he has to sell his medals just to get by. Man-Suk trained Dong-Joo and helped him become middle weight boxing champion.

Ji Han-Na is a shooting gold medalist, surrounded by arrogant colleagues who are clearly jealous of her reputation. She wants to be out in the field, but that dream seems out of reach—the higher-ups just won’t allow it.

Operation Golden Bunny—who, to be fair, is just a low-level thug (which only highlights how bad their reputation is, lol)—seems to be the key mission that could revive the Insung Police's standing. Naturally, they manage to screw it up right from the start. While Man-Sik is off taking a piss, Golden Bunny escapes from the cops. He ends up fighting Dong-Joo and smashes him with a mirror. The operation is utter failure

Jae-Hong, a disc throw champion, was demoted to traffic as a penalty for going after a powerful gang. He's now doing his best to prepare for the promotion exam, even though he knows it's a long shot.

Dong-Joo has a one-sided crush on Han-Na. She seems to have some history with Jong-Hyeon. Meanwhile, Jae-Hong visits Mi-Ja’s noodle shop—she’s the mother of his old boxing friend and seems to treat him like family. Dong Joo got a cute sticker from ha-na when he was down after losing a match long ago.

Jong-Hyeon is a sergeant and pretty popular with the women in the force. He gets promoted to the Office of Audits and Inspection but catches plenty of flak from other officers—his reports have messed with their careers. He’s polite but definitely not a pushover.

Ko Man-Sik pays for Dong-Joo’s mistake by wrestling the commissioner—you know, a “peer bonding” session just to entertain one old fart. Dong Joo gets hit by a car while on stakeout. That same car seems to have hit someone else as well.

Gyeong-Gil, Dong-Joo’s boxing mate, is missing. Dong-Joo even goes to an event organized for their former coach, despite having a bad relationship with him. Because of Dong-Joo, Gyeong-Gil became a cripple and joined the police to pay for his medical bills. He refused the coach’s offer to join MMA, and as a result, Gyeong-Gil was disgraced for doping—even though he only used approved painkillers.

Ha-na tells him that he should get his act together. Dong jo finds that the car that hit him has a connection to the Golden Bunny case. He steals page from the case files.

The fire that disrupted operation is arson so the operation was leaked. The guy who got hit was an informant. Previously, hana was tasked to deliver documents to victims but was unable to do so as it was after hours. The thugs come for her.

Jong-Hyeon gets into accident and it seems gangsters are sent after him because he got corrupt officers suspended.

Dong joo walked into the den of golden rabbit and fights his men off. The episode ends with all the athletes fighting off their enemies. Just like they used to during their athetletic career
